As providers become increasingly accountable for the health of their patients, demand is growing for engagement solutions that can deliver proven results
CHICAGO – August 1, 2012 – Emmi Solutions, LLC, a Chicago-based healthcare communications company, has signed multiple new agreements with hospitals, health systems and large multispecialty medical practices, adding to its esteemed client base. Emmi creates multimedia, interactive programs that engage patients to take a more active role in their care. Numerous studies prove that the Emmi® platform’s patented ability to prescribe, track and store patient interactions has enabled hospitals to achieve quantifiable, actionable results. With more than ten years of experience and almost 4 million programs prescribed, Emmi pioneered and continues to dominate the patient engagement technology market.
"As we enter a new era of accountability filled with many unknowns, it is important that we select partners who have demonstrated a proven and consistent ability to tie interventions to outcomes," said Pamela Brotherton-Sedano, MS, RN, Vice President of Patient Safety and Corporate Responsibility Officer at O'Connor Hospital, in San Jose, CA, a member of the Daughters of Charity Health System. "That’s why we chose to partner with Emmi Solutions and to leverage their patented technology to engage broad populations of patients to take greater responsibility for their care – ultimately the only way to truly bend the cost curve."
The Emmi platform allows providers to "prescribe" Emmi programs for patients to view at their convenience on their computer or mobile device to help make sense of complex medical information and manage expectations around procedures, chronic health conditions or the hospital experience. The proprietary communication methodology combines voice, image, text and interactivity and can stand alone or be fully integrated into health information systems, electronic health records and patient portals. Emmi also offers programs to support the decision-making process, transition from one care setting to the next and guide patients through each step of a clinical trial. Information is provided in a language patients understand with information they can act on at times when they are ready.
"Based on the success we’ve had at Summa, we are eager to expand use of the Emmi platform across our entire system to engage more of our patients to take active roles in their health care," said William Powel, III, System Vice President of Legal Services at Summa Health System. "Emmi’s keen understanding of how the market is changing and ability to demonstrate a clear and positive economic impact makes them an invaluable partner as we move into a new era of accountability."

Emmi’s proprietary interactive communication methodology delivers actionable health information to patients via multiple modalities – including computers, mobile phones and tablets – at key moments across the continuum of care. Emmi’s ability to connect with patients in language they understand at a time they are ready to learn and through the devices they already own has been demonstrated to help healthcare providers reduce costs, increase revenue and improve outcomes. The web-based platform requires no installation or maintenance and can be used in stand-alone mode or fully integrated into existing systems.
